Luke 6:45

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

What the Cuss!

2 Cor 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

I can't help but think of how I used to be.  The former self of what I have become today in Christ Jesus!  I've often said that people know me one of two ways.  The way I was before Christ and the way I am now with Christ.  Friends, Brothers and sisters in the Lord have not a clue as to what I was before I came to know Jesus as my personal Savior.  Friends and family that knew me before Christ may have a hard time accepting the person that I am now.

So with that being said..I've became increasingly annoyed at friends, and family swearing on their facebook statuses.  Now I'm not trying to be "holier than thou" type of person... really I'm not.  But like in the above scripture the former things of MYSELF have passed away and the NEW things of Christ I have adopted.  I love reading people's statuses and seeing what is going on in their lives, but I just don't understand the need to swear in those statuses.  Even when I was of the world I can remember thinking that it just didn't make sense to swear by typing it out.

So today I put this as my status :"I really do like reading ppls statuses. But I don't swear. I know its freedom of speech, but when I read your status and it has swear words n it, it kinda makes me say those words n my head then I have to try n either replace the word or skip over it. I dont like it...just wish ppl wouldnt swear."  And as to be expected I recieved a few comments.  A few of which I had to delete.  But some were taunting me, or as they said were joking and others were I guess defending themselves.  The point I was trying to make was exactly what I put my status as.  I just don't like reading the "bad" words.  I wish that facebook had a language filter on it so that when people did decide to use profane language it would change it to #@!*%$ instead.

Col 3:8 NLT -But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language.

Eph 4:29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them;
But just incase you didn't know people...the Bible says for all the words that you say that
Matthew 12: 36 (NLT) And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.

 Matthew 12:34-37 (The Message) "You have minds like a snake pit! How do you suppose what you say is worth anything when you are so foul-minded? It's your heart, not the dictionary, that gives meaning to your words. A good person produces good deeds and words season after season. An evil person is a blight on the orchard. Let me tell you something: Every one of these careless words is going to come back to haunt you. There will be a time of Reckoning. Words are powerful; take them seriously. Words can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation."

When we give our lives to Christ, you are so right. The way we use to be does not fit us anymore. We are now new in Christ. Friends and family are the first to say, "you think you're better than we are now" but it is because they do not know Christ. This is when we must pray for them. Ask God to change their hearts and receive Christ as their Lord and Savior.

I have had similar status' on my facebook page and I just finally deleted them. Some were friends and family and I simply did not want to read the cussing, depressing, gossiping status' they posted. Sometimes we have to "weed" out the negative influences in our lives. It is not easy especially when it is friends and family, but in order to stay on the right path with God we have to.

Your post was awesome and I enjoyed reading it. Bless you my friend.

"A Christian blog which is full of truth and power. I love the way it does not "sugar coat" biblical truths as sometimes is often done. If you want to read the absolute truth of God's word, this is definetely the blog to visit, read and follow. "
