I wonder how many lives you have touched throughout your own life? Have you ever stopped to think about that? Growing up as a child the children you met a school, teachers you had, girlfriends or boyfriends? In high school the friends you met, the friends you lost, relatives, team members, or just people you met at the store? As an adult co-workers, church members, your children, other peoples children, your husband or your wife?
If you died today how will people remember you? Below is a song called "Legacy" by Nichole Nordeman. Some of the lyrics are "I want to live a legacy, how will they remember me? Did I choose to love? Did I point to you enough to make a mark on things?"
Do this simple task...Think of one person and one person only...what comes to mind? Is that their legacy with you? Is that how you will remember that person?
Now think of yourself...how do you "think" people will remember you? Is that they way you want them to remember you? Some people say "I don't care what people think" but what about you family? Your kids? Your loved ones? Do you care what they think?
Awhile back I researched my family tree. I did an extensive study on my family and traced my fathers family back to the 1500's. I found all sorts of information on people in my family tree. Some of it was funny, some horrifying, and some nothing to brag about. For my family that is living I had the option to put in what that person is like so that when my children are older and they look at it they will know what that persons legacy was like to me.
I have a cousin when I think of him all that comes to mind is a very hard worker and lives only for his children. When I think of my husband I think "sportsaholic." I have another family member that drinks and other "things", and has a wonderful talent but that talent is hidden buy the things that stick out the most which is the drugs and "things."
I want my legacy to be that I always was truthful, and Loved the Lord with all my heart, and always tried to do what was right in the sight of God. That's the main thing I want my legacy to be.
Like the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30 the man was given talents but didn't do anything with them. What good is it to have if your not gonna do anything with it? God has given each of us talents we can either put them to use or hide them, and what we choose to do with them will be our legacy. If you haven't read the parable of the talents please take a moment to read it to gain better understanding of this paragraph.
When you think of your legacy what do you see? Is there anything you would like to change?
A personal blog about happenings in my life and what God has done and is doing for me.
Luke 6:45
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
