Touch Down
With football season in full swing, God has given me a message on “touch down.” Not the kind of touch down as in scoring but in His Spirit “touching down.”
We all need a touch down from God at one time or another and He does reach down and touch us whenever he sees fit to do so.
Think about how exciting it is when you watch the game and the player is running, running, and running and suddenly…”TOUCH DOWN!” And the crowd goes wild!!
Or what about when the player is running and suddenly he gets tackled at the 1 yard line? Oh how disappointing is that?! You’re hoping and praying that they make a “touch down.” Do you think your praying family members, friends, or co-workers feel like that about you? Your going and going toward the end zone then suddenly..KABLAM! Satan grabs your attention and tackles you dead in your tracks!
Just when you thought it was smooth sailing you get hit! What a disappointment not only for you (the player) but for all those praying for you too.
There is no mistake about it, the Bible tells us numerous times about people being touched by the Lord. We don’t need an instant re-play to make sure. When you are touched by God you can expect something miraculous is about to take place.
Look here in the Bible and see for yourself what happened when God “touched down.”
· John 1:32-34 32Then John gave this testimony: "I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. 33I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.' 34I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God."
· Matthew 8:1-3 When he came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing, “he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cured of his leprosy.
· Matthew 8:14-15 14When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 15He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.
· Matthew 9:25 25After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up.
There are scripture in the Old testament as well here are a few
· 1 Samuel 10:26 26And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.
· Job 19:21 21Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
So you see EVERYTIME God touched something or someone something dramatically happened.
Isn’t it time you had a “touch down?”
